Conflict Stirs in the Black Sea

The Russia has contested Turkey's plan to take back control over their straits, and yet Turkey continues to remain defiant in the face of Russian threats. The situation threatens to boil over into armed conflict as Turkey struggles to assert its sovereignty and Russia makes a play to establish its dominance over the region. The balance of power rests in our hands: we must choose whether we wish to legitimize our support for Turkey with a guarantee of independence to deter the Soviet Union, or wash our hands of the situation and hope that the two countries take themselves off the narrow collision course that they have both set themselves on.
