What happens
Recent experience has demonstrated that many of our military officers are ill equipped for handling modern warfare. The most likely reason for this flaw is our historical tendency to offer military ranks based on hereditary or political titles, rather than on the merit of the person in question. With the recent wave of reforms across Ethiopia, it is only fitting that we ensure meritocracy is the determining factor in becoming a military leader.
