What happens
Despite our support, and their relatively sheltered seat in the mountains of central China, the other nation has requested that we pledge to protect them in case of conflict. Whether they fear another anti-communist campaign by nationalist forces or foreign imperialism is unclear, but we need to weigh the risk of being pulled into such conflicts before we grant any guarantees.
