The Military Emergency

When it came, the reaction by was sudden and overwhelming. Not taking any chances, the entire Philippine Division was deployed to Manila, the cavalry charging in first, followed immediately by infantry with fixed bayonets. Where there was more stubborn resistance, tear gas was used to clear resistance. Stunned by the overwhelming force, the Sakdalista militias were forced to abandon their barricades and melted away out of the city. Although the initial threat of a fascist coup has been thwarted, there still remains a danger of a wider escalation into a civil war, and as such has seen fit to declare a military emergency, impose martial law, and assume dictatorial powers to ensure ongoing stable governance.
