What happens
After a build-up of Japanese forces in Manchuria, the Soviet Union appears to have unexpectedly withdrawn units that were stationed right alongside the border. This may be a bid by Moscow to avoid a future confrontation with Japan, possibly triggered by the stinging memory of the defeat Russia endured in the Russo - Japanese War.
