What happens
After several conflicting reports, it has now been confirmed that Gibraltar has fallen to Germany. This strategic port city guards the entrance to the Mediterranean, and it was widely regarded as impregnable before the war started. The British garrison retreated into the tunnels running underneath the Rock, but were eventually dislodged by flamethrowers and grenades. With Gibraltar in German hands, there has been a dramatic shift in power in the Battle of the Mediterranean.
