Queen Mathilde I of Norway

We may never know what happened behind closed doors in the Royal Palace, but the Royal Norwegian Government has announced that Queen Maude, the late King Haakon's Queen Consort will rule the Kingdom from now on, taking the name Mathilde I. This is specially unusual since Prince Olav was next in line for the throne, but it seems he prefers this arrangement so he can continue to focus his attention on the war effort. Besides, she is the granddaughter of Queen Victoria after all, so she would simply be following in her steps, and the succession laws of her homeland. Notably, Markis Wede-Jarlsberg's name was not mentioned in any of the public announcements, his role in the new regime is unknown, as are his whereabouts.
